The forests in and around Khao Chong vary from plains along stream banks to small hills among high and steep mountains.  The elevation varies from 50 – 800 m above sea level.  The rocks mostly consist of granite and sandstones, and the soils are alluvial/sand soils and clay.  The predominant type is seasonal tropical rain forest.
